Is Your Water Meter WRAS Approved?

What is WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme)?

The purpose of WRAS is to contribute to the protection of public health by preventing contamination of public water supplies and encouraging the efficient use of water by promoting and facilitating compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.

How to check if your meter is WRAS Approved?

The only way to be certain that a product is WRAS approved is by checking the products and materials directory which can be found on the WRAS website, or by clicking the following link: https://www.wras.co.uk/approvals/products_and_materials_directory/. Simply enter the product, brand or manufacturer name and it will display the approval details. The details will include the range of products covered under the approval, a description for identity, a temperature rating and the approval expiry date.

Could I just get a copy of the WRAS certificate from my supplier instead?

Obtaining a copy of the certificate is useful but does not necessarily prove that the product you have is the one that is approved. The only way to be sure is by checking the online approval directory as described above. WRAS certificates now state that ‘the certificate by itself is not evidence of a valid WRAS Approval. Confirmation of the current status of an approval must be obtained from the WRAS Directory’.

Aquamotion offer a full range of WRAS approved cold water meters and have recently added the multi jet hot water meters to the WRAS approved range.
